Childrens Swimming Lessons

Children’s swimming lessons are for age 3 years and above. We have small class sizes and teachers go in the water with the children to assist, demonstrate and help build confidence. Below is a description of the classes we offer and what stages the child will progress through the Learn to Swim Programme

Lesson Description.

Pre-school.
This class helps to develop aquatic skills such as floating, breath control and water confidence, essential for efficient stroke development. Teachers use games, songs and nursery rhymes to motivate the children, whilst simultaneously developing strokes and skills.

Beginners.
Children new to swimming or those who are not yet swimming up to a distance of 5 metres. Children work on early stroke development, but focus on skills and confidence to ensure they are relaxed and comfortable in the water.

Beginners 2.
Children who are water confident and can swim up to 5 metres on their front and back in a recognised stroke. Children must be able to submerge and demonstrate basic breath control.

Improvers.
Children who are water confident and can swim up to 10 metres on their front and back in a recognised stroke. Classes focus on further stroke and skill development, whilst helping develop deep water confidence. Children begin to swim greater distances to ensure strength, stamina and water fitness.

Stroke Development.
Children who can swim up to 25 metres of back stroke, front crawl and further practice of breast-stroke and butterfly. The classes ensure stroke technique gaining in efficiency and strength and preparing child to progress to swimming club.
